Mechanical Calculations Engineer

Our team, with an area of expertise in Gas Turbines Power Plants development is looking for a Mechanical Calculations Engineer. The group works with auxiliary systems for medium-sized gas turbines and manages and develops standardized solutions for both power generation and the oil & gas market. The group is responsible for floor frames, heavy lifting, installation details, external

platforms and general layouts.

Mechanical Calculations Engineer collaborates with design engineers and other disciplines to support them with up to date calculation results helping to optimize system design to utilize best performance, strength integrity and cost-effectivity.

As a Mechanical Calculations Engineer you will be responsible for the complete scope of calculations work including preparation of reports and developing of the initial loads data to the best fit to the applicable standards. This means you should be able to adopt new country’s codes regarding local building regulations for power plants both onshore and offshore as well as participate in developing new calculation methodologies e.g. to improve our calculation models.

You should be interested in product development and in solving technical problems in our simulation tools, but also in developing new solutions to streamline work in the future.

Experience in calculating foundation and embedded steel according to IBC/UBC codes is considered as an advantage.

To join our team candidate should be able to fluently communicate in English, both written and verbal. 

Working schedule - standard 40 hours working week.

You will work in a flexible work environment with the opportunity to work from home, after agreement with the team´s manager. 

Amount of the reward will be agreed after the interview with candidate. 

Probation period is 3 months.

Required skills:

  1. Masters or Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mechanics or equivalent with a focus on strength and a few years of experience in strength calculations.

  2. Working experience is 3 years

  3. Fluent English

  4. Experience of working with different types of simulation tools such as Ansys, Nastran, Matlab. Experience with Altair Hyperworks / Simulia Abaqus is considered an advantage

  5. Ability to read and understand complex technical drawings

  6. Knowledge how to perform calculations of the piping (piping integrity, thermal loads, flows etc.)

  7. Excellent communication skills

  8. Responsibility, accuracy, carefulness, can-do attitude, can analyze and critically assess the calculation results

  9. Ability to work with many incoming tasks and requests

  10. Ability to work in developing circumstances

  11. Innovative and open mindset in a developing environment where we work to develop new products and solutions
